Pride Mobility Products Corp., the world’s leading manufacturer
of personal mobility equipment such as power wheelchairs,
Go-Go mobility products, and Pride mobility scooters
and lift chairs, recently welcomed several senior engineering
students from Wilkes University. The engineering students
toured Pride's Research & Development facility, getting
an inside look at how mobility equipment is designed. Pete
Nestor, Director of Global Electric Scooter Products, and
Jerry White, Director of Global Power Chair Products, showed
the students how scooters and power chairs move from concept
to the market, covering conceptual design, prototypes, materials,
software, and more.
The tour was arranged as part of a joint program to get
Wilkes University students actively involved in local companies.
This is the first part in an arrangement between Pride electric
powered scooters and Wilkes University; in the future, Pride
will work with junior engineering students on developing various
projects that will help them in their future studies. Jim
Mulhern, Vice President of Research and Design at Pride, stated,
“This is a great way for the students to get hands-on
training and for Pride to gain perspectives from future engineers.
We are very excited to embark on this program and feel positive
that it will benefit both Pride Mobility Products Corp. and
Wilkes University.”
Pride Mobility Products Corp. employs over 1,000 individuals
in Pennsylvania and is committed to serving those with disabilities
and mobility impairments by designing and manufacturing the
