Handicap stair lift: North America is about to see a demographic
shift unlike any in previous history. The population of North
America is reaching retirement age in the next few years at
unprecedented levels. One of the unfortunate consequences
of this trend is the fact that, as we age, many of us suffer
mobility deficiencies.
Silver Cross recognized this opportunity in 1993 and began
to develop a network of stair lift franchise business locations,
focused on delivering a lower cost alternative for accessibility
and mobility equipment.
The Silver Cross service includes recycled and new home accessibility
lifts along with a repurchase plan. Accessibility products
include stair lifts, porch lifts, home elevators, dumbwaiters,
automatic door openers, ceiling and scooter lifts.
Home elevators are gaining interest from custom home builders
who are including them as the next appliance in their home
designs. Mobility products include scooters, wheelchairs,
walkers and other related products. Baby boomers who are building
their last custom home are including home elevators in their
design.
Silver Cross was founded by Bob Harvey out of Toronto, Canada
in 1993. He recognized the need for a lower cost alternative
in the market place. His vision was to expand this unique
franchise across North America. Today, there are eight Silver
Cross franchises in Ontario and over hundred affiliates covering
80% of North America and England.
In the next decade, as the baby boomers reach their retirement
years, the home accessibility market is going to grow at unprecedented
levels.
